A GROWING FESTIVAL FAVORITE

THE PUPPET SLAM
(PERFORMERS STILL NEEDED)

We are planning a Puppet Slam on Saturday night at the Cardinal Arts Theater at the old Seaboard Freight Depot, and as of May 27, 2008, there are still vacancies on the roster for YOUR performance!

The slam is in search of left of center acts. This is the home for twisted shadows, cranky crankies, scary marionettes, way out wayang, and sexy sock puppets. Acts can be short and they don't have to be super slick.  Give a new character to an old puppet; blow off some steam.  Admission for the general public is $5 (free for festival registrants), and performers will receive a split of that, so come on out and perform.

Contact Lyon Hill at mermecolion@msn.com .

Among those scheduled to perform is Sean Keohane, whose Terrible Polichinelle Puppet Theatre will present The Marriage of Reason as part of our evening of adult puppet plays.  Originally written for children in 1860s Paris, Polichinelle's battle of the sexes with a content bachelorette isn't only Politically Incorrect, it's just wrong! Naughty, bawdy puppets, religious mysticism, and totally unnecessary slapstick violence.

Not convinced yet?  Okay, here comes the slam dunk...there will be food!  The Savannah Coastal Puppetry Guild is sponsoring a little something to keep the late night snackers content.

THURSDAY NIGHT BONUS
SAVANNAH RIVER MOONLIGHT CRUISE

There will be a 1 1/2 hour Savannah River Moonlight Cruise with Live Entertainment (DJ & Puppet Cabaret) from 9:00-11:00pm on Thursday night (boarding from 9:00-9:30pm). SHARE THE POWER
SOUTHEAST REGIONAL POWERPOINT

Puppet Gumbo will be showcasing the variety of talent in our region with a Powerpoint presentation.  The presentation will be shown on Friday night to all attendees.  Any member of the Puppeteers of America living in the Southeast is encouraged to submit up to 12 samples of your work.  Don't be shy!  Whether you are just getting started or have been puppeteering for over fifty years…..we want to see what you've been up to. Even if you can't make it to the festival, we would still like to include samples of your work. If you are not yet a member of P of A, now is a good time to join.  You will get a discount on your Festival Registration!

Please include your name, your puppet company, where you are located, and contact information.  A list will be compiled of all those who submit photos so other folks know how to find you.  Also include any other information you feel is relevant, such as what your puppets are made from, what show they are from, and who the designers, builders, and puppeteers are.

Send photos via email to lisa@redherringpuppets.com .  300 dpi is preferred.  If you do not have access to digital images, I can scan them for you.  Send photos (with a self-addressed stamped envelope for return) to Lisa Sturz @ 73 Dye Leaf Road, Fairview, NC 28730.

Please send your photos as soon as possible so we can get started.  Images received after May 15, 2008 are not guaranteed to be included.
